Exceptionally long Chinese altar table with original lacquered finish. Constructed of {jumu} (elm) wood, the table with solid slab top and everted end flanges ({jiatousun qiaotouan}). The solid skirt with beaded edge and {ruyi} (wish granting fungus) motif bifurcated by the solid straight legs. The legs with trestle base and reticulated interior panels. Originally placed against the wall in the reception hall of a wealthy residence or temple, the table would have held items of importance such as censors, candles and vases. Ex Shanxi Province.
